EKPOMA – Members of Anti-Cult Group in Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State have appealed to public spirited individuals, corporate organizations, nongovernment and government to assist them in carrying out their duties effectively.

The founder of the group Barr. Lucky Esekhaigbe while speaking with newsmen on behalf of other members in Ekpoma, said the group which was founded in 2015 during administration of Late Prof. Cordelia Agbebaku, as vice chancellor of AAU, had achieved tremendous successes.

He said the group has succeeded in bringing cult related crimes and other crimes to the barest minimum, but lamented that their efforts were not been appreciated by the society.

Barr. Esekhaigbe said that only financial assistance from the university had been what the group relied upon, which according to him is grossly inadequate.

He said that Esan West Local Government Council during the administration of Hon. Patrick Aguinede also assisted, but that stopped long time ago living the group members on their one.

He equally lamented that they have lost about six members of the group when they were attacked by cultists at their base on different occasions, adding that the task of taking care of the bereaved children were also left for members of the group.

He therefore called for assistance from public spirited individuals, Non-Governmental Organizations, government and others to assist the group.

The Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Anti-Cult Group, Barr. Austin Agbator said group is registered, and does not get involved in crime, hence have survived since 2015.

He said the group still uses the bus given to it by the late vice chancellor, Prof Mrs Agbebaku, adding that the group was also need of an office

Agbator, pointed out that they do not want to be infused into any other security outfit, because according to him, it will defeat the very essence of group
