Warri – A multi-million Naira privately owned radio station , Rize FM Ogunu, Warri South council area of Delta state, was in the early hours of Thursday, razed, with transmission equipment worth millions of Naira destroyed.

As at 9am , fire fighters were still at the scene of the inferno which witnesses said , was caused by an electrical fault at about 1am.

Although no casualty was recorded, the storey building with transmission equipments worth millions of naira, was completely destroyed.

While the Management and some staff of the radio station declined making comments and said a statement will be issued when the damage has been ascertained, a staff who would not want his name in print, however said,

“I was actually not in town yesterday, I traveled to Enugu. I can’t really tell what happened.

” What we are concerned about right now is, how to get back on air soonest.

Asked whether it was really an electrical fault, he said,

” How did they know? Are they professionals?

“There will always be insinuations, but we’ll definitely investigate to know what exactly happened ”

Delta State Public Relations Officers (PPRO) , DSP Bright Edafe, when contacted for comments, said the incident was triggered by an “electrical spark”.
