WARRI – A total of sixty-seven(67) youths of Urhobo extraction in Delta State, have benefitted from the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) Computer Competency Skills Acquisition training.

The youths under the auspices of the Urhobo Progress Union ( UPU), Worldwide, were drawn from the twenty-four Kingdoms of the Urhobo nation.

The three months training aimed at empowering youths to be self reliant, was part of PTI’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and it included training in: Computer Appreciation, Internet Literacy, Word Processing , Corel Draw, among others.

Addressing the trainees during the closing ceremony and award of prizes at the Institute on Tuesday, the Principal of the school, Dr. Henry Adimula, said,

“This fit-for-purpose training is in tandem with PTI’s motto for ‘Skill, Service and Progress’.

“I urge you all to imbibe the Institute’s philosophy to put the skills acquired during the training to practice.

“In other places, it may take up to one and a half years to acquire these skills, but here in PTI ,it is completed in three months.

“I am proud to say that PTI is very unique. At PTI, we develop our students to combine theory and practical to produce desires result.”

Dr. Adimula urged the trainees to have faith in themselves as the world is currently being driven by information, adding that, they have been deployed and are expected to make positive impact on society.

The PTI principal paid glowing tributes to the President General, Urhobo Progressive Union ( UPU), Management staff of the Institute for their commitment to the project as well as the “Ukoko Emoto Urhobo Re PTI.”

Among dignitaries present at the ceremony were, Ovie of Uvwie kingdom ,His Majesty, Emmanuel Sideso, ( Abe1) who was represented by Chief Hope Erute; President General of UPU, Olorogun Moses Taiga represented by Chief Captain Anthony Onagharigho; President of the youth wing of the UPU, Ovie Ebireri.

The best three trainees with the highest scores were gifted starter packs of brand new complete computers each.
