The people in their large numbers while briefing newsmen in Benin City, the Edo State Capital weekend, alleged that atrocities, Sacrilegious and mysterious deaths in the village, particularly the recent sudden deaths of the three most senior elders next to their Odionwere, Pa. John Aghimien Idemudia Igbinarode which to them informed their appeal to the revered Benin Monarch.

Addressing journalists Pa. Omoagbon Asemota, who the people claimed is the eldest in the village, alleged that the Odionwere, Pa. Aghimien recent sold their old-long ancestral shine which according to them is the source of their happiness, protection and purity over the years.

He further alleged that the Odionwere has allegedly refused to perform traditional functions expected of him in the village Oguedion which he said has been underlock and key for about ten years, alleging that strange things have been happening which according to him have led most residents to fled the village for their lives.

“The Oguedion have not been functioning as traditional activities in the village Oguedion have been in standstill position, just as part of the land housing our Okhuaihe Shrine has been sold by the Odionwere”.

“His Royal Majesty sir, recall that sometimes in 2017, the aforementioned issues were brought before the highly respected Benin Palace, wherein Your Royal Majesty instructed Aghimien to open the village Oguedion and as well as appeasing the ancestors of the village, this the Odionwere has not done till now.

“The Odionwere has been arresting residents perceived to be opposing his style of leadership with police”, he said.

Supporting the position of Pa. Asemota, Elders Osayangbon Noruwa, Imagbenikaro Osewenkhoe and Enoghayin Ebuehi, in their separate reactions collaborated the position of Asemota.

They pathetically lamented the resale of lands hitherto sold by members of the out-lawed Community Development Association (CDA), allegedly by the Odionwere, disclosing that the development has further drag the people backwards owing to the alleged several court litigations, hence, the need for Oba Ewuare II to come to their rescue.

The people, however, appealed to the Oba to invite them and the Odionwere to the palace with a view to settling them.

Attempts to get the reaction of the Odionwere proved abortive as he could not be reached on phone as at the time of filing this report.
