BENIN CITY – The Edo State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, of Fugar CSP Ibrahim Aliyu Isaq by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers.

Fugar police division is in Etsako West local government area of Edo State.

The Chief Superintendent of Police in company of his orderly one Sgt Aliu when he was reportedly kidnapped at Ekwuosor enroute Aghenebode about 6:30pm on Friday, November 26, 2021.

Meanwhile, the commissioner of police in Edo State CP Philip Ogbadu has enjoined the general public to remain calm and go about their lawful business as the command is on top of the situation.

It disclosed that the DPO and his orderly were in mufti driving in a private vehicle when the armed men struck the orderly managed to escape while his superior was whisked into the bush.

“The armed men suddenly emerged from the bush and opened fire on their private vehicle forcing them to stop. They however whisked CSP IBRAHIM ISHAQ into the bush while the orderly managed to escaped”. The statement reads in parts.

It will be recalled that unconfirmed reports had last Saturday stated that the gunmen contacted CSP Ibrahim Ishaq’s family demanding N50m ransom for his freedom.
