BENIN CITY – Edo Government has commended the Dennis Aikoriogie Foundation (DAF) for it’s commitment to the welfare of the needy in the state.

Speaking on Monday at the Christmas Party for Orphanage Children organized by the Foundation in collaboration with Edo Ministry of Social Development and Gender Issues in Benin City, the Honourable Commissioner, Hon. Maria Edakor said DAF has demonstrated it’s mandate of providing succor for orphans”.

According to her, “We want many of such personalities like Dennis or the Foundation to come out and put smiles on the faces of these lovely children . Orphans should be able to go to school, learn skills and attain their full potentials”

Hon. Edakor also commended the various orphanage homes for taking good care of children under their care. She however said the Obaseki’s administration will clamp down on any orphanage homes operating below standards.

“Today we are having fun here and I am impressed with the way the children from the various orphanage homes are looking. But we will not hesitate to put any one violating these children behind bar. So if you see orphanage as business instead of charity, it is time to stop”. She said.

Earlier, Mr. Joseph Aikoriogie who spoke on behalf DAF said the Foundation organized the party for the children from the various orphanage homes in order to afford them the opportunity to make friends and interact with the wider community.

“We at the DAF believe that these children hardly have the opportunity to interact with the community on constant basis hence we staged this Christmas party to allow them make friends and feel a sense of belonging to the community”. Mr. Aikoriogie noted.

He also advised the children to listen to their foster guardians, take their education seriously and imbibe good virtues in order to achieve greatness in life.
