A young man identified as Nelson Osayande is reportedly on the run after his pregnant girlfriend was confirmed dead on November 28,2013 after taking pills to abort her 3 months pregnancy.
Confirmed reports in Benin city made available to the Nigerian Observer indicated that the pregnant girlfriend, Aghabiomo Osagie was in a relationship that her parents were completely against owing to the background of her boyfriend .
According to a source in the family of Mr.Osagie ,a grassroot politician and father of the deceased girfriend ,who spoke on condition of anonymity, trouble however started for the pregnant girlfriend when she started dating Nelson Osayande in early 2013 as her parents in the past once referred to the boyfriend as a nobody without a known family background in the state.
The Nigerian Observer was reliably informed that the frosty relationship on the part of the parents of Aghabiomo Osagie resulted in a series of life threatening attacks on the life and family of Nelson Osayande as it was reported on several occasions that her family led suspected thugs to attack Nelson and his family.
It was also gathered that the several threats to life by her family which was aimed at separating the two lovers was not enough to break up the relationship as she however became pregnant in September 2013.
For fear of her father’s outright rejection from the family, confirmed report says she took abortion pills to terminate the pregnancy without the knowledge of her boyfriend thereby leading to her sudden death on November 28th,2013.
It was said that her parents with the police on their side ,after her death was reported, went after her boyfriend ,as it was believed by her family members that she was induced to her death by her boyfriend who gave her abortion pills .
Mr.Osagie ,it was reported ,went after Nelson and his family members but was only able to arrest one Liberty Osayande ,brother of Nelson who after the death of his pregnant girlfriend absconded to an unknown destination to avoid being arrested.
The police, it was gathered, arrested and detained the brother of the runaway boyfriend for several months with the intent that his brother would come out of his hiding place to own up to the crime of administering abortion pills to Aghabiomo Osagie which subsequently led to her death.
Meanwhile, the police have said in a statement made available to journalists in Benin city that it was on the trail of a runaway young man identified as one Nelson Osayande who claimed the life of his pregnant girlfriend by administering illegal abortion pills to her.
The police further said it was strengthening its efforts by collaborating with other security agencies in order to apprehend and prosecute the runway suspect ,Nelson Osayande whose whereabouts remain unknown for the alleged murder of his pregnant girlfriend.
