BENIN CITY – Daredevil gunmen stormed the residence of the All Progressives Congress (APC) party leader in Bye Pass area, Sapele Road, Benin City, Moses Obazughanmwen, and murdered him in cold blood.
According to a family source who spoke to newsmen, the armed men who were alleged to be sent by members of the opposition, came to Moses house at midnight on June 15, 2014 and destroyed properties worth millions of naira before going straight to him and shot him several times. The gunmen left after they confirmed that he was dead.
The source said that the event leading to the dastard murder started during a political rally organized by the All Progressives Congress (APC) earlier that day.
According to the source, some political opponents came to the campaign ground to forment trouble. There was argument as Moses and other party faithfuls tried to calm the situation. The argument degenerated into a serious fight. Several persons were seriously injured. After the incident, that was when armed men stormed Moses house and killed him for daring them.
The source further reveals that the killers warned that they are going to kill other members of Moses family and other people that dare them during the fight at the campaign ground.
One of the APC members that was in the thick of the June 15, fight at the campaign ground was Moses Osayande, the armed men has also vowed to kill him along with members of Moses Obazughanmwen’s family.
The gruesome murder of Moses, according to the source as sent shivers down Moses Osayande’s spine and he has fled for fear of being killed. His whereabouts is unknown as he his afraid for his life.
