SHAGARI (SOKOTO STATE )-More than 2,050 indigent persons are benefitting from the Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) scheme of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) initiative in five local governments in Sokoto State.
The state ‘s Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning , Alhaji Isa Bajini, said this in Shagari town at the flag-off of the disbursement of the grants.
Bajini said that the benefitting local governments under the current phase of the CCT scheme were Shagari, Wurno, Kware , Rabah and Sokoto North.
The commissioner, who said five electoral wards were selected from each of the local governments, added that each beneficiary would get N5,000 for the next six months.
The state MDGs Focal Officer , Alhaji Buhari Musheshe, said that the gesture was aimed at empowering the beneficiaries.
‘’ It is also aimed at shoring up the children’s schools enrolment figures in the state and further improve the educational development of the state as well as Nigeria in general,’’ Musheshe said.
