BENIN CITY – The police in Benin are currently on the trail of three middle age men suspected to be members of a robbery syndicate in the town.

A source informed our correspondent that one of the alleged robbery gang members, Joseph Igbinovia had come to pick up his friend, Sunday Samuel with the intention that they were attending a party.

The source, who did not want his name mentioned, said while on their way, Igbinovia suddenly made a stop over where he picked another friend whose name could not be immediately ascertained unknown to Samuel that his friends had interior motive.

In the course of driving, one of them it was gathered pulled out a gun and allegedly ordered Samuel to knock at a particular door, where they were expected to rob, according to the source.

Samuel it learned vehemently objected, wondering why they (his friends) would convince him that they were going to a party only to be deceived into robbery.

Accordingly to the source, the situation degenerated into a hot argument leading to the other two threatening to kill Samuel if he did not coorperate after given him a severe beating.

While the argument lasted, there was a gun shot from amidst which led to a stray bullet killing a passerby.

This raised apprehension in area leading to residents scampering for safety before the intervention of the police who declared the suspects wanted.
