THE 2014/2015 season of the Nigeria Premier League will begin on March 7, 2015, a top official has announced.
League Management Company (LMC) chairman Nduka Irabor dropped the hint in Lagos.
Clubs were earlier given the chance to choose between a January 21 kick-off or for the competition to begin on March 7.
Irabor also revealed that the LMC will soon introduce more initiatives to make the NPFL exciting and lucrative.
One of such initiative is a reward for fans turn out for league matches.
According to Irabor, “We are introducing next season a reward or benefit award like we have done with points accumulated”
“Next year we are going to introduce ability to bring fans into the stadium, as a condition for distributing money.
“And we are going to give points according to the fans you bring with 3000 being the bench mark.”
He explained that “anything under 3000 you don’t get any point. But as you get 3000 you get a point and as you progress the point increases.”
“At the end of the season we tally the points and reward the clubs”
Kano Pillars got 15 million Naira for finishing top on the premier league, while Nembe City got 1.5m Naira for finishing bottom of the league.
