OWERRI – The Imo State Governor, Mr Rochas Okorocha, said his administration will continue to promote the Community Government Councils (CGC) to sustain rapid social and economic development in the rural areas.
Okorocha made the promise at a Christmas banquet with traditional rulers in the state in Owerri, the state capital.
He commended the royal fathers for their roles in the actualisation of CGC and promotion of peace, security and development in their various domains.
Okorocha enumerated a number of people-oriented projects both completed and on-going including the palace of Eze Imo and the Traditional Rulers’ Council Secretariat.
The governor said that his administration had recovered most of the state’s investments sold out by previous governments and assured that some non functioning industries in the state would be reactivated.
Okorocha said his second term bid as governor was to ensure consolidation of Imo Free Education programme, Community Government Council and the numerous people-oriented projects initiated by the current administration.
