Nigeria U23 coach Samson Siasia has left for the United States to be with his family during the Christmas season.
Siasia left on Sunday night and is expected back in the first week of January as the national U23 camp reopens on the 5th.
ìYou know that [the U23 national team] have a loaded programme so if I donít go now I donít know when I will get the chance to go and see them,î Siasia said.
ìWhile in US, the job continues because I need to monitor players that I feel would be good to help the team.
ìThe NFF has been of a great help in this regard, so I am not going to fold my arms while in US but continue to do the job over there.
ìOur prayers and resolve is to mould a strong team that would be capable of winning matches and competitions.
ìThis is our goal and target and with the support of football loving Nigerians, the football federation and the National Sports Commission, I am confident of achieving this,î he said.
Nigeria will begin their campaign to qualify for the All African Games and the 2016 Olympics in the new year.
