BENIN CITY – The second sequence of the Federal Ministry of Finance Graduate Internship Scheme (GIS) Orientation and Employability three-day training as organised by Morel International Consultants, Lagos, was yesterday declared open at the Prestige Hotel and Suites, 1 Ihama Road, Opposite the Airport in Benin City; with strong advice to the interns to take advantage of the programme.
Declaring the programme open, the representative of the Federal Ministry of Finance, Abuja, Mrs. Georgina Njoku said the training workshop with its theme: “Graduate Internship Scheme (GIS) Orientation and Employability Training for Graduate Interns in Edo State”, is in line with the Federal Government’s objectives and efforts to enhance the capacity and competence of unemployed Graduates in Nigeria, for the purpose of employability and enduring quality service delivery.
Before delivering his lectures, one of the resource persons and Chairman/Managing Consultant, Morel International Consultants, Olorogun Lucky Oghene-Omoru congratulated President Goodluck Jonathan on behalf of Morel International Consultants; “for introducing the Graduate Internship Scheme” which he said has “enabled many unemployed graduates to benefit from the economic empowerment programme of the Federal Government in Nigeria.” He however, enjoined the interns and their employers to be committed to the GIS programme in order to continue to take advantage of the experience and make it a rewarding one.
Another resource person, Festus Eligbo, among other topics; lectured on the benefits of the programme both to the interns (unemployed graduates) and the participating firms (employers) as well as emphasised their roles and responsibilities of the participants towards the successful realisation of the designed mission and vision of GIS.
Taking his turn in the series of lectures, Fred Onojeta advised the interns to consistently improve their competitive skills, particularly in their respective places of internship; add value to their talents, potentials and entrepreneurial capabilities as well as continue to distinguish themselves in order to earn the desired objectives of all stakeholders in the Graduate Internship Scheme.
