BAUCHI (BAUCHI) – Wikki Tourist Football Club of Bauchi has concluded arrangements to recruit two coaches and 12 players for 2015 football session.
The Media Officer of the club, Usman Shehu, announced this in a chat with newsmen in Bauchi on Wednesday.
Shehu said the club had so far received applications from Abdullahi Maikaba, Zakari Baraje, John Obah, Donald Paris, Evans Ogunyi, Ahmed Pele and Tunde Abdul-Rahman.
Shehu said the applicants would be interviewed immediately after the New Year.
He added that the club would retain 18 of the 45 players that played in last season while 12 had been invited to join the team.
Shehu said that the team would play 15 friendly matches with various clubs to test the competence of new players and coaches.
He explained that the club did not sack its coach, Tunde Abdul-Rahman. “Tunde was only contracted for 2013/2014 season.”
The media officer said that the management notified Tunde through a letter and promised to pay his one month salary. “He was asked to re-apply for the job.’’
He commended the State Government for its moral and financial backing for 2013/2014 season and urged it to release fund in good time for the 2014/2015 season.
