Abuja- The National Association of Nigerian Traders (NANTS) said that the association would support any political party in next month’s election that endorsed the association’s manifesto and charter.
The NANTS National President, Mr Ken Ukaoha, stated this at the public presentation of the association’s “Manifesto and Traders’ Charter of Demand.’’
“ We expect that any political party that wants our votes should endorse our demands as a sign of commitment and we shall canvass and vote massively in return.
“ The truth is that traders and farmers across the country have become wiser; in the past our constituencies have always exchanged their votes with salt, wrapper and rice.
“ That is the reason behind the production of the Farmers’ Manifesto and the Traders’ Charter of Demand.
“It indicates the needs, interests and aspirations of the group, which has the highest number of the electorate in the country,’’ Ukaoha said.
Ukaoha said the manifesto has been marketed and presented before some political parties and candidates, who solicited for the association’s votes.
He advised politicians to play the game according to the rules and avoid the use of provocative comments.
The NANTS president reminded the various political parties of the Peace Accord signed by all the major parties and their candidates.
