This is contained in a statement in Abuja, signed by the Director, Media and Publicity of APCPCO, Mallam Garba Shehu .
According to the statement, the organisation fully identifies with the U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry’s appeal to political parties to ensure free and fair and non-violent polls.
The statement stated its agreement with Kerry’s expectation that all responsible politicians should support the objectives of free, fair and non-violent polls as advocated by the U.S. government.
The statement also called on other members of the international community to show active interest to issues of non-violence, free and fair elections.
On the U.S. threat to deny visas to politicians that engage in electoral violence and malpractices, the APCPCO said it fully endorsed the measure to serve as ‘’deterrence and give credibility to Nigeria’s democracy and electoral system’’.
Newsmen recalled that Sen. Kerry arrived in Nigeria on January 25 to discuss the February elections with the presidential candidates.
