The Nigeria Football Association (NFA), has assured that it would not interfere in the forthcoming State Football Associations (FAs) Elections.
Its First Vice Chairman, Seyi Akinwunmi, who made this known in an interview with newsmen in Abuja, said the association would only be involved in the elections as observers.
“The state FAs’ are affiliates but they are bodies on their own and they run their elections.
“What we will do is to ensure that we have observers in the same way that we have observers in elections; we have asked also that the guidelines be sent.
“Most of them have sent their guidelines, their electoral committee members, appeal committee members and the date they will have the elections.
“So, we are monitoring it whilst not intruding in what they are doing there.“
NAN reports that the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have between Feb. 15 and Feb. 28 to conduct their elections.
He said the Amaju Pinnick-led board of the NFA had resolved not to interfere in their affairs of its affiliate bodies as well as the various standing committees of the NFA.
It would be recalled that the NFA had on Wednesday directed all its 36 states’ affiliates and the FCT to conduct elections into the boards of the football associations.
It had also mandated them to forward their electoral guidelines and codes to the federation as well as the membership of their electoral committees.
