BENIN CITY – For its proactiveness in information dissemination, the Bendel Newspapers Company Limited (BNCL), publishers of the Observer titles has been honoured with the certificate of Recognition as the Best Peace Propagating Newspaper of the year 2014.
The award was conferred on The Nigerian OBSERVER by the Doruyi Peace Awards on December 31, 2014.
Presenting the award on behalf of the Doruyi Peace Award, Nik Obaseki, said The Nigerian OBSERVER has over the years provided regular information on government policies and developments, especially in crises ridden situations, which he said are targeted at ensuring peace in the land
Obaseki who is also a Brand  and Financial Consultant pointed out that The Nigerian OBSERVER’s choice for the award was informed by the unique, independent and unbiased role in reporting peace in the recent crisis between the Edo State government, Edo House of Assembly and some interest groups.
He further pointed out that the Doruyi Peace Awards was established to honour institutions and individuals who are fighting the cause of peace and unity in the land, while enjoining well meaning Nigerians to embrace the spirit of peaceful coexistence in the society.
Other awardees included the Independent Television and Radio.
