BENIN CITY – The foundation building of the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium shook as the National Campaign team of All Progressive Congress (APC) berthed in Benin City yesterday with assurance by the Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Pius Egberanmwen Odubu that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would sweep the polls in the February general elections.
Dr. Odubu who spoke to journalists at the APC Mega Rally said “I say this justifiably because of the antecedents of our candidates and the performance of our Governors in their respective states. We do not only have credible messenger but credible messages.
He said “APC Government will tackle insurgency, fix the economy, fight corruption unemployed graduates in the country and Edo people in particular. So I have no doubt in my mind that Nigerians are desirous of a change.
The Deputy – Governor further said “you can see the wind of change blowing across Nigeria. Just look at the thousands of persons here; both within and outside the main bowl of the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, it is an ample manifestation that Nigerians believe in APC.
He said “here is Edo State, it is going to be operation totality. APC is going to get 18/18 and 192/192 in the February election. The Okakuo of Urumehe and Deputy – Governor of Edo State, however, advised all APC members and their supporters to get their permanent voter’s cards as weapon to unseat the 16 years of P.D.P misrule in Nigeria.
Also speaking, the majority leader of the Edo State House of Assembly and APC candidate for Oredo Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Philip Shaibu expressed satisfaction with the mamouth crowd that greeted the APC campaign rally maintaining that “Nigerians are yearning for change.
Change in the P.D.P. attitude to the economy, corruption in high places and the intermittent supply of power in Nigeria.
He said “APC is the only party that has the solution to the present problems instituted by P.D. P 16 years of mis-governance.
Edo State for example was trapped down by PDP, the state was completely finished. Today, you can see infrastructural development that is taling place in Edo, Lagos, Rivers, Osun and all the APC controlled states, there is a clear manifestoes to change the old order of underdevelopment.
“General Mohammadu Buhari has served as former Head of State, Chairman Petroleum Trust Fund, Military Governor and in all these areas, he has been unblemished.
“He is a man that has zero tolerance for corruption, disciplined and focused. Nigerians need a man like him as a leader at this point of our economic problems. So, we are convinced that General Buhari will bring about the desire change Nigerians are craving for, he would fix not only the power sector, he would fix insecurity that is presently facing us in Nigeria.
Others who spoke at the mega rally included the state party chairman Barr. Anselm Ojezuah, House of Representatives hopeful, Hon. Peterson Akpatason, Hon. Paul Ohonbamu of the Edo State House of Assembly and Prince Tony Okojie, APC leader in Esan – Central.
The occasion was graced by APC leaders from within and outside Edo State. Among whom were, APC national leader and former Governor of Lagos State Assiwaju Ahmed Tinubu, APC national Chairman, Chief Odigie-Oyegun, the APC National Campaign Co-ordinator and Governor of Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, Former Governor of Osun State Chief Bisi Akande, traditional rulers, Market Women, Artisans, Religion bodies and Non-Governmental Organizations amongst others.
