…Church members cry out for help

BENIN CITY- The age long tradition that attracts serious punishment of death in Benin kingdom has
happened in the Akhilor family in Benin City and already causing ripples to the extent of threat to
life.
Recently the story was reported about a lady Patience Akhilor in about her late forties, from
Igueben, in Igueben Local Government Area of Edo State, whose life is under serious threat and she
is now on the run for dear life and where about unknown.
According to a very reliable family source who narrated the whole story to our correspondent
under strict confidentiality for fear of victimization, said it all happened recently in Igueben, Igueben
Local Government Area of Edo State, when the young lady Patience Akhilor mistakenly stumbled
into an act of serious taboo between her guardian uncle Mr. Daniel Akhilor and her own father’s
wife making love in his bedroom. In the shock of her life, she quickly ran back shivering and
dumbfounded.
The source added that after all, the randy duo entertaining the fear that his niece might reveal
her observation to her father, seriously threatened to kill her if she ever reveal what she saw to
anybody for life. But for the fear of the aftermath dial consequences, her refusal to speak out may
cause her spiritually. She then decided to go to their hometown, Igueben to let the cat out of the
bag to her own father about his brother’s misdeed. On hearing the taboolous information, the
shocking father, Elder D.A. Aklibor, a septuagenarian summoned a family meeting to immediately
also inform them.
Eventually, when her uncle heard about the exposure in the village and in order to shatter the
meeting to avoid further revelation. He decided to send killers after his niece. During the operation
and in anger of not finding their main target, they killed her father and set the house ablaze.
But unluckily for the assailants, two of them were nabbed by the vigilante officers, and handed over
to the police, while the remaining four fled.
Another reliable source has hinted that the latest development is a treacherous one as the life of
Patience Akhilor is no longer safe. The other escapee assailants have gone to regroup with their cult
gangs and vowed to get her dead or alive.
Meanwhile, Pst. Osaro Ado and members of her church, Holy Ghost Bible Church, Benin City, where
Patience Akhilor is an usher, have cried out to concerned authorities and all Godly spirited people to help
in the search and protection of their dedicated member, who they said is only a victim of circumstance.
When contacted, the Divisional Police Officer (D.P.O), Ugbekun Divisional Head Quarter, where the
incident was earlier reported confirmed the incident as referred by the Igueben Division. He also said that
investigation have commenced already on the matter.
