Lagos – Mr. Adekanbi Kabir, a former member of the Lagos State House of Assembly has urged Nigerians to vote wisely in the forthcoming general elections.
He gave the advice in an interview with newsmen in Lagos, saying that Nigeria requires pragmatic leaders.
Kabir said that the phenomenon of selling votes for gratification should be cast aside, saying “this is not the time to do that’’.
He advised Nigerians not to vote for anybody that could not provide maximum security, jobs for the youth, stable power supply and other social amenities.
He also raised concern on the dependence of the country on oil as the nation’s main revenue source and called for diversification of the economy.
According to him, it is imperative to exploit other resources such as solid minerals, cocoa and rubber, among others, to ensure stability of the economy.
Kabir, while commending the role of traditional rulers at the grassroots, enjoined them to ensure that peace reign in their communities during the elections.
