NEW Levante forward Kalu Uche has expressed joy at returning to Spain after more than five years away but faces a huge task of helping the team survive the drop.
Levante are currently bottom of La Liga with 16 points from 21 matches and require a miracle that even their Nigerian import may not be able to offer.
Uche, 32, joined the Spanish side from Al Rayyan before close of the January transfer window and made his debut in last weekend’s 2-0 defeat at home to Athletic Bilbao.
Despite coming on in the 57th minute, the former Super Eagles star was unable to help Levante who fell to a brace from Aritz Aduriz.
Earlier, Uche had said: “Levante is a great team, and we don’t deserve to be down, I am convinced that at the end of the league we are going to avoid relegation.”
How far can he go in helping them survive the drop at the end of the season? That’s a million dollar question.
Levante wil host Malaga in their next match on February 7.
