TOTTENHAM’S manager Mauricio Pochettino believes that Christian Eriksen has matched Premier League stars Cesc Fabregas and Alexis Sanchez.
The Dane has nine goals to his name from midfield already this season, including back-to-back free kicks in wins over West Brom and Sheffield United.
Alexis – who is set to miss Saturday’s north London derby – has been one of the stars of the campaign with 18 goals, while Fabregas has 18 assists to his name for Chelsea
Asked by reporters if Eriksen has matched the ex-Barcelona duo, Pochettino replied: “Yes, so far. Christian has the possibility to get to the same level. His contribution so far is as great for the team.”
Tottenham host Arsenal having lost just two of their last 12 Premier League games, with another three points at the weekend heavily aiding their bid for Champions League qualification.
“Our vision is long term and we work for that,” Pochettino continued. “When the new stadium comes, we need more income. It’s also very good for our fans.
“But we are focused on the present too. We have a plan for the present and for the long term. We need to understand that we need to get the good results now to develop in a very good way our future.”
