OKADA – The long abandoned road linking Iyanomo and Ugbokun Communities in Okada-East ward, has received the attention of the authorities of Ovia North-East Local Government as reconstruction work began on the road on Friday.
At the weekend when newsmen visited the two affected communities, the first phase of the reconstruction work which is opening-up of the road by a bulldozer was 85% done, and that is expected to pave the way for grading (phase II), which the contractor handling the job, Mr. Monday Enihoro said will commence immediately.
Some members of the benefiting communities including their Edionwere who were visibly elated thanked the council chairman, Barr (Mrs) Lucy Omagbon for her prompt response to their request, saying that the reconstruction of the road is a big relief to them.  They added that it will now give the communities easy access, especially the farmers, noting that this will in no small measure boost the local economy of the communities.
Both Edionwere later offered prayers for the council boss.
Speaking on the development, the Councillor representing Okada-East Ward, Hon. Nosa Oviawe commended the council boss and said the ongoing reconstruction work in the area was evidence of good governance which goes to show that the council boss Mrs. Omagban has a listening ear.
In a related development grading work has commenced in about 5km long Omore road in Evbuomore Community, Oluku ward.
The grading work is aimed at linking some adjoining streets.
Some residents of the area including the councilor representing the ward Hon. Kingsley Agbontaen, and the APC Woman Leader in the ward, Mrs Magdalyn, while expressing their joy also commended the council chairman, Mrs Omagbon for the timely intervention.
Meanwhile, the Council Chairman Barr (Mrs) Lucy Omagbon has directed the Department of Works headed by Hon. Billy Osawe to immediately grading work to Yoruba camp and Okada town in fulfillment of her promises during APC campaign rally last week.
