Lagos – A 27-year-old bus driver, Christian Aba, who allegedly removed the teeth of his colleague during a fight, has been docked at an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.
Aba, who resides at No. 15, Moshobi St., Mile 12, Lagos, is facing a charge of assault occasioning harm.
The prosecutor, Insp. Steven Mob told the court that the accused committed the offence on Feb. 5 at about 6.05 p.m. at Obalende Motor Park on Lagos Island.
He said the accused assaulted one Monday Nweke by giving a blow on his mouth and removed two incisors immediately.
The offence contravened Section 171 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011. The accused pleaded not 9uilty to the charge.
Reports stated that Section 171 provides three years imprisonment for the offence.
Counsel to the accused, Mrs. Heleni Ibeji, urged the court to grant him bail on liberal terms.
In her ruling, the Magistrate, Mrs. F. O. Aigbokhaevbo, admitted him to a bail of N100, 000 with one surety in like sum.
She said the surety must be gainfully employed and also show evidence of tax payment to the state government as part of the bail conditions.
The case has been adjourned to Feb. 19 for mention.
