keroseneYENAGOA- The South-South Coordinator of the NNPC Kero-Correct initiative, Mrs Edith Johnson, has assured the people of Bayelsa that the product will be supplied adequately to them.
Johnson told newsmen  in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state that the programme would ensure the sale of the product at N50 per litre.
“The people are impressed because they had been buying the product at a higher cost; we are committed to ensuring availability of kerosene at N50 per litre.
“We are using the mega station at Isaac Boro by Sani Abacha flyover and the floating station at Nembe to cater for the coastal communities,” she said.
Meanwhile some residents of Yenagoa have applauded the Federal Government for the intervention.
Mr Moses Godspower said that he purchased 25 litres of kerosene for N1,250 as against the previous price of N4,000.
Godspower urged the Federal Government to sustain the supply because, according to him, the citizenry had suffered immensely from kerosene scarcity.
“It will be good for NNPC to sustain this arrangement which ensures availability of the product at an affordable price.
“It will even discourage Bayelsa residents from patronising illegal refiners who sell at exorbitant rates.
“You can imagine the difference; you now buy 25 litres of kerosene for N1,250 as against N4,000 for the same quantity supplied from bush refineries,” he said.
Esther Tarinyo from Opolo area of Yenagoa said that she was pleased with the development and urged the officials of NNPC to sustain the supply.
