The Benin Forum says there is no crisis whatsoever in the organization
According to a statement signed by Micheal Ogbeide-Ihama, Public Relations Officer of the Benin umbrella elite club accused those peddling the rumour of crisis in the forum’s ranks of being mischievous and not meaning well for the Benin people.
Recalling some Newspapers’ reports to the effect that the Benin Forum is in crisis over an interview granted by its Chairman to the Vanguard Newspaper, the forum averred that certain names that were mentioned in the publications as ‘members and officers of the Benin Forum are, in fact, not known to the genuine members of the Forum.
The statement read in parts, “It will be recalled that the Benin Forum at its meeting on Sunday, January 25, 2015, discussed all the issues relating to the 2015 general elections and took a definite position which was released to the public at a press conference addressed by the chairman, Chief D. U. Edebiri OON, at the Oba’s Palace on Wednesday, January 28, 2015.
“The interview granted to the Vanguard Newspapers by the chairman, Chief David Edebiri was in the exercise of his fundamental Human Rights and as an elder statesman who has contributed immensely to the building of modem Nigeria. There is nothing in the interview to show that he was speaking on behalf of the Forum”.
The statement called on those peddling the false rumour to desist from it in their own interest, just as it emphasized that Chief D. U. Edebiri enjoys the implicit confidence of members of the Benin Forum.
