BENIN CITY: The Oshodin/Oloke royal family of Benin Kingdom, weekend hosted the immediate past Vice Chancellor, University of Benin (UNIBEN), Profrssor Osayuki Godwin Oshodin to a grand reception at the Benin City ancestral home.
The head of the family (Okaegbe), Pa. Omobugie Oshodin in an address read on his behalf by the Secretary General, Mr. Atotikolo Oshodin said the reception, besides celebrating the former Vice Chancellor was to publicly acknowledge  the family support for Professor Oshodin while the held sway in UNIBEN.
He noted that Professor Oshodin recorded imprecedented landmark during his five year tenure as UNIBEN Vice Chancellor.
“Today, it is on record that Professor Oshodin has demonstrated a robust administrative acumen which affected live in the area of human resources development/ human capacity building as well as infrastructural development.
“Our son, Prof. Oshodin’s achievement and developmental stride in UNIBEN didn’t come to us as a surprise because, as a true son of the Oloke and the grandson of Erha Oba of Benin Kingdom, he couldn’t have done less.
“We are proud of our son, Prof. Oshodin who knows quite well that he has more stake in the University of Benin, unlike his predecessors,” he said.
He described Prof. Oshodin as an “erudite scholar and a professor per-excellence who has been conquered and delivered .”
He said Professor Oshiodin’s robust administrative style remains a reference point in contemporary university administration globally.
While appreciating members of the university community, particularly the Benins for their co-operation and support for Professor Oshodin, he also urged them to be united and eschew all forms of bitterness and ‘pull him down’ syndrome against their ‘own’.
Pa Omobugie Oshodin used the occasion, to appeal to all stakeholders in the university to work closely with the incumbent Vice Chancellor, Professor Faraday Friday Osasere Orumwense to enable him succeed.
In attendance at the ceremony were students academic and non academic staff as well as other stakeholders of the university.
