BENIN CITY – The Financial Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Orhionmwon Local Government Area chapter, Pastor Ifeanyichukwu Adagbon, over 50 leaders and other members of the party in Igbanke East and West in the locality have joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The State Deputy Governor, Dr. Pius Egberanmwen Odubu received the defectors in Government House, Benin City.
The deputy governor assured them that they will not be discriminated against as the APC remains one big family.
Dr. Odubu urged them to work seamlessly with other members of the APC, assuring them of leadership positions in the APC.
He informed the defectors that government would continue to develop Igbanke community and the state in general despite the paucity of funds.
According to him, the state government believes in fairness as exemplified in the equitable distribution of appointments from which Igbanke has benefited since the inception of the present administration.
Dr. Odubu also encouraged Igbanke people to support the APC Presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buahri (Rtd) based on his track record of transparency, discipline and courage to right the wrongs in the Nigerian society.
Spokesman for the defectors, Pastor Ifeanyichukwu Adagbon told Dr. Odubu that their decision to relinquish membership of the PDP stems from Governor Adams Oshiomhole and the deputy governor’s loyalty to the governor, a development which has brought motorable roads to Igbanke community.
Pastor Adagbon said their crossing to the APC was in appreciation of Governor Oshiomhole’s achievements in Igbanke and other parts of the state.
