BENIN CITY – A Chieftain of the Unity Party of Nigeria UPN, in Edo State, Alhaja Lovina Amina Adonor, has charged Nigerians to use the elections, postponement to consolidate the existing relationship among the ethnic nationalities in the country for the purpose of national development.
Alhaja Amina made this charge weekend, at Idokpa Community in Uhunmwode Local Government Area, Edo State, while sensitizing the people of the community for the forthcoming general elections rescheduled for March 28 and April 14, 2015 respectively.
She noted that the recent postponement of the elections by INEC was God’s will which needed to be obeyed in good faith and charged the electorates across the country to see it as a grand design to strengthen democracy.
Speaking with The Nigerian OBSERVER, she stressed that the INEC Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega, was a man of high integrity whose passion for the growth of Nigeria’s democracy could not be undermined.
According to her, the shift on the elections had calmed down tensions that would have turned the country apart.
She noted that Prof. Jega saw that the tensions could plunge this country into warring situation that was why he competently shifted it and therefore urged Nigerians not to be discouraged by the decision.
She said that the president’s tranquility was a practical demonstration of his love for positive change in governance and advised Nigerians not to have divergent views about his role in the postponement of the elections, while stating that her party, the UPN, would win many seats in the elections in the state.
She solicited the corporation of her party faithful in the state to enable it’s candidates emerge winners in their respective positions in order to replicate the exemplary leadership of the late political sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo.
