VICTOR Moses has applauded his teammates for their fight back in their 2-1 win at Aston Villa on Saturday evening.
The hosts drew the first blood through Scott Sinclair before the Potters equalized through Mama Diouf’s header before Moses got an injury time winner from the penalty spot.
According to the Chelsea loanee, the victory was a perfect timing for the team to bounce back following their painful exit from the FA Cup versus Blackburn Rovers.
“We showed tremendous spirit to come back into the game after going behind,” Moses told Stoke City Player.
“With the ability of players we have in the squad, we always knew we had the capabilities to get something from the game.
“It was a good result for us today, especially as we had to deal with the hype of them having a new manager which will have given them a boost.
“It was perfect timing for us to bounce back as well, especially after the disappointment of last weekend.
“We picked ourselves up straight away and hopefully with this result we can move on and look ahead to the rest of the season.”
Moses’ winner was his third in Potters colours and admitted afterwards he never had any doubt in taking the spot-kick despite regular penalty taker Jonathan Walters being on the pitch.
“As soon as I won the penalty, I wanted to take it,” he added.
“I was comfortable about taking it. I was looking at the ‘keeper as I stepped up and I never had any doubt I was going to score.
“It’s not the first time I have taken a penalty, I take them regularly at international level and I am very happy to have got on the scoresheet.
“That’s nice personally, but the main thing is that we all dug out after a difficult period and gained the three points,” he concluded.
