SOKOTO – Governor. Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto State has cautioned against the politicisation of the nation’s security agencies.
Wamakko spoke in Sokoto when the new Commissioner of Police deployed to the state, Mr Salisu Abdullahi, paid him a courtesy call.
‘’ The security agencies have no any constituency , as such, they should patriotically work to ensure the safety of lives and property of all Nigerians,’’ he advised.
Wamakko also urged security agencies in the country to always uphold their oaths of office by being diligent and fair to all.
‘’ All Nigerians should be treated equally irrespective of their religious, ethnic or politiical creeds.
‘’ This is crucial, especially now that Nigeria is approaching another democratic transition.’’
The governor promised to continue to assist the security agencies in the state to complement their efforts in saving lives and property of all law abiding citzens.
Abdullahi had earlier commended Wamakko for his sustained moral and financial support to the state police command and other sister security agencies.
‘’ We will provide a level-playing ground for all the political parties to operate equally and peacefully in the state,’’ he assured.
