BENIN CITY – Residents of Street 20, Federal Housing Estate, Aduwawa in Benin City were  thrown into pandemonium when a group of youths unleashed mayhem on house number 10 in search of one Mr. Love Alfred Ijesurobo Adagbonyin, and his partner, suspected to be gay.
Investigation revealed that the trouble started at Hexagon, a night club in Benin metropolis where the suspected gay lovers, identified as Mr. Love Alfred Ijesurobo Adagbonyin and Mr. Femi Olushahiu were caught at about 2.00am on Monday 16th  engaging in sexual act.
Information from the night club shows that both of them came to the club to celebrate Femi Olushahiu’s birthday. They were however chased out from the club by the security men on duty.
Investigation also revealed further that some group of men traced Mr. Love Alfred Ijesurobo Adagbonyin and Mr. Femi Olushahiu to their residence, where they later mobilized other area youths to attack the duo whose sexual act is seen as an abomination in the land.
According to an eye witness who spoke with our reporter said on sighting the irate mob numbering over 20, Mr. Love Alfred Ijesurobo Adagbonyin escaped through the widow to avoid being killed by the boys but unfortunately, Mr. Femi Olushahiu was not that so lucky as he was attacked and allegedly stabbed in the neck by the angry youths. He died on the spot due to the serious injuries he sustained in the attack.
Contact, the Police Public Relation Officer, DSP Joseph Edogiawerie, said the incident has been reported to the police command, saying that his men are already on the trail of Mr. Love Alfred Ijesurobo Adagbonyin.
DSP Joseph Edogiawerie, further stated that homosexuality is illegal in Nigeria as anyone convicted of the act faces 14 years imprisonment or sentence to dealth,according to the law. “Anyone who aids or “abets” same-sex unions also faces 5 years in prison”, he added.
The police image maker also said that Mr. Love Alfred Ijesurobo Adagbonyin is wanted as a result of being suspected of being gay, he is also wanted in connection with the death of his alleged partner, Mr. Femi Olushahiu in his residence.
DSP Edogiawerie however appealed to the members of the public to furnish the command or any nearest police station with any useful information that could lead to the arrest of Mr. Love Alfred Ijesurobo Adagbonyin.
