PA Orunwa Etumudon, the Okibali of Aliegbo Quarters, Idumuesah in Ika North-East Local Government Area of Delta State has reemphasised importance of youths in any society, stating that their role in the nation building is inestimable.
Speaking with newsmen in his country home at Idumuesah, Pa Orunwa Etumudon educated the youth on the numerous prospects available in the society.
He maintained that bright prospects await intelligent hardworking individuals both in education and technical apprenticeship, while he tasked youths to guide their future jealously by shunning social vices.
He stated, “as youths, you should engage in ventures the society will be proud of and which would bring glory to our parents irrespective of the monetary reward. You must not engage in any activity that would bring disgrace and reproach to our family and the community”.
Pa Orunwa Etumudon encouraged the youths to embrace God; as that is the only way to actualize one’s ambition. He charged them to shun greed, theft, crime, ritual killing, prostitution, and so on stating that people who fall into hands of fraudulent individuals are greedy people.
The elder statesman lamented the practice of politicians sending their children abroad for quality education, and recruiting other people’s children for thuggery and election malpractice, even as he advised the youths not to be enticed by material things to engage in electoral malpractice.
The Septuagenarian charged parents to groom their children in the fear of the Lord to enable them have solid moral upbringing, adding that when an individual becomes deviant, it is difficult to control because resocialization is more difficult and at times impossible.
Pa Orunwa Etumudon also seized the opportunity to draw the attention of the government on the infrastructure of the area such as the construction of link roads, Idumuesah Community and to create job opportunity for the teeming youths.
