BENIN CITY – With the installation of 36,000 prepaid metres installed for customers who paid, the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC), said it has also procured 400 Units of transformers that are now awaiting installation for the four states in the DISCO areas of operation.
The states are Edo, Delta, Ondo and Ekiti.
The Acting Head, Corporate Affairs of BEDC, Mr. Curtis Nwadei in a chat with The Nigerian OBSERVER in Benin City said these are part of the strategic plans to improve electricity distribution to its consumers.
Mr. Nwadei who gave a brief on BEDC’s achievement since November 2013 when it took electricity distribution took over in the locality, also disclosed that about 274 Distribution transformers have been installed, while the 18 power transformers (injection sub-stations) that were installed are now in use.
According to him, over 3,000 electricity consumers who paid for pre-paid metres prior to BEDC take over and have had their claim verified have their metres installed.
While assuring of BEDC’s readiness to give quality service to its customers, Mr. Nwadei disclose that power distribution is a function of power generation and transmission by designated companies.
