BENIN CITY – Edo State government has expressed concern over some Enigie, Edionwere, Ohens and Lawyers, acting on behalf of factional community members who are fond of dissolving constituted Community Development Associations (CDAs) in their domain without regard to the appropriate Ministry or extant rule and regulation guiding CDAs.
In a signed statement, the commissioner, Ministry of Establishment and Special Duties, Hon. Didi Adodo said Community Development Associations are registered by the Ministry for the development of their various communities.
“The process of formation and registration of CDAs is guided by government policy and guideline on Community Development, 1987”, he stated.
Consequently, the statement noted that no individual or group of persons have the power to dissolve any Legally Constituted CDAs without the approval of the supervising ministry.
It added that if the need arises for a dissolution or change of CDAs, those agitating for dissolution or change must inform the supervising ministry of the offence(s) committed by such CDAs for proper investigation .
