Some fans of football on Sunday has applauded the Nigeria U-20 squad for doing the nation proud in their 3-1 victory over Senegal U-20 team in the ongoing 2015 Africa Youth Cup in Senegal.A spectacular performance by the Coach Manu Garba-led team saw Nigeria’s Flying Eagles begin the quest for qualifying for the world cup in New Zealand on a good note.
A first half double from the lanky Nigeria’S Taiwo Awoniyi followed by another goal by Ifeanyi Mathew in the same half ensured the Flying Eagles began their 2015 African Youth Championship campaign on a bright note.
A resolute Senegal did all they could to draw home support but could only score a goal through Sidy Sarr.
With this win, Garba’s team sits atop Group A with three points plus two goals difference and will face Congo On Wednesday at the Stade Léopold Sédar Senghor.
In separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN ) some football fans expressed confidence in the team’s capabilities of going far in the competition.
Ladipo Adeleke, a football enthusiast, said that the team had played very well adding that deshe was impressed with their opening performance.
‘’This is a good team, they are well coordinated and look good enough to go far in the competition,’’ Adeleke said.
Another fan, Femi Odekunle, said he was impressed with the performance of the players.
‘’They are a good team, they look well trained and very strong on every run of play. If they continue like this they will definitely go far,’’Odekunle said.
Also Nnamdi Ibe told newsmen that the match was a very entertaining one, urging the team to go all the way to bring the African Championship Cup home.
‘’They have started well, they must remain disciplined because bringing the championship cup home is the ultimate,’’ he said.
