SOKOTO – The Nigeria Police is working round the clock to rescue Alhaji Mohammed Usman, the Emir of Bukkuyum in Zamfara, who was abducted at his palace on Friday night.
Alhaji Bala Hassan, Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 10, Sokoto, gave the promise on Sunday in Sokoto in an interview with newsmen.
He said: “Available intelligence information indicated that the Emir is being held hostage within the zone which comprises of Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states.
“The three commissioners of the police in the zone, along with other security agencies are doing everything possible to rescue the abducted traditional ruler.
“I have also directed the Commissioners of Police to strengthen working relationship with members of the vigilance group to identify the area where the Emir is being held.
The AIG appealed to the people to furnish the police with information that would assist it in rescuing the emir.
