REAL Madrid president Florentino Perez will testify in a corruption case after being called upon by a judge.
Reports emerged through news agency Efe that the Blancos director would be required as a witness as judge Eloy Velasco investigates the behaviour of businessmen, individuals, clerks and councilors from various municipalities about alleged payments for the awarding of contracts.
As a result, the European and world champions have released an official statement confirming that their president will comply fully with the court order.
“Given the reports in the last hours, the Real Madrid wish to state that next Monday president Florentino Perez will attend to testify before judge Eloy Velasco, in relation to the services provided to the club for one year by an analytic research company in the digital domain, owned by Alejandro de Pedro, the accused in Operation Punica,” read the press release on their official website.
The investigation comes after Swiss authorities reportedly alerted Spanish officials to their suspicions of money laundering in connection to the crimes of former secretary general of the People’s Party (PP) of Madrid, Francisco Granados.
