EFFURUN, Delta State -Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan has at St. Cyprian Catholic Church, Oil Field Road, Effurun harped on the importance of hardwork and dedication to duty as the new Bishop of Uromi Catholic diocese celebrated his thanksgiving mass.
speaking at the thanksgiving mass by Bishop Donatus Ogun who was recently elevated to the office of a Bishop, Dr. Uduaghan said the Bishop attained the position through the dint of hardwork and commitment to duty.
He described the Bishop as a blessing to his family and the world explaining that being a Catholic priest required a lot of sacrifice and denial.
The Governor congratulated Bishop Ogun and announced the donation of a Prado Jeep to enhance the service of the Bishop to humanity.
In his homily, Bishop Ogun who was recently ordained Bishop of the Uromi Diocese, stated at the thanksgiving mass to mark his new office of sacrifice to humanity, that the period of lent was a time of spiritual pilgrimage aimed at sharpening  encounter of catholic faithfuls and indeed Christians with God.
He said that the period of lent challenges Christians to overcome the vices and temptation that come their way during this period and at all times.
The Bishop explained to the congregation the importance of spiritual change and positive growth through alms giving, fasting and prayers as well as overcoming temptations.
According to him, indulgence in sin separates man from the love of God but explained that God in His mercies and love for mankind gave Jesus Christ to humanity for salvation and a path of reconciliation with Him.
