OKADA — Daredevil hoodlums on April 13 2015 invaded the family resident of the Vice Chairman of that All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ovia North East Local Government, Edo State, Daniel Oghosa Ogunmu and started shooting sporadically in the air. They left when they realized he was not at home. The shock of the several gunshots led to the death of Daniel’s father who have been sick for some time before the incident. It was gathered that the recently concluded All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election that did not favour one of the aggrieved contestants, Barr Paul Ohonbamu led to the onslaught.
According to a reliable source, the February 10,2015 APC primary election in Edo State to nominate candidates that will represent the party in the forth coming general elections. It was learnt that two of the candidates vying for the same position, Barr Paul Ohonbamu and Levis Aigbogun were in the hotly contested primaries. At the end of the keenly contested primaries, Levis Aigbogun was declared winner, and this decision infuriated Ohonbamu, who accused the APC hierarchy of biased in spite of the large amount of money he spent to lure the party chairman, Mr Osas, Vice Chairman, Mr Daniel Oghosa Ogunmu, party secretary, Mr John Izobo and other party executives.
The source told our correspondent that on April 10,2015, thugs allegedly sent by the aggrieved candidate invaded the All Progressives Congress (APC) party secretariat while a meeting was going on. They were armed with dangerous weapons, the chairman, Mr Osas and two other persons were shot dead, while several others including the vice chairman, Daniel Oghosa Ogunmu and secretary, John Izobo escaped with gunshot injuries.
It was also gathered that when they realized that Daniel was not dead, that was when they invaded his house leading to the death of his father as a result of shock through the shooting by the hoodlums.
As at the time of this report, Daniel Oghosa Ogunmu has fled as his safety is no longer guaranteed
When contacted, the Edo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Osifo could not be reached as he was said to be out on official assignment.
