Afuze (Edo) – All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates in Saturday House of Assembly election in Edo have commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for a peaceful conduct of the exercise in the state.
The candidates, mainly from Owan West constituency said that it was obvious from the conduct of the polls that INEC had corrected the lapses recorded during the presidential and National Assembly elections.
Speaking shortly after casting his vote at his Ward at Uhumora, Mr Ojo Asien, who is vying the Owan West constituency 1 seat in the assembly, told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that INEC had given hope to the people by its level of improvement.
“As you can see, the process is peaceful and I must commend INEC for correcting its past mistakes.
“I am impressed with the timely arrival of materials and the commission’s staff at the polling units,’’ he said.
Mr Blessing Agbebaku, the candidate for Owan West constituency 11, said “so far, the process has been orderly unlike what we experienced at the last election with the card readers.
“But today, INEC seems to have got it right.” (NAN)
