Lagos – Mr. Adeyemi Ikuforiji, the Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly (LAHA), as urged Nigerians to rejoice as they celebrate Easter because it was the dawn of a new era for them.
Ikuforiji made the call in his Easter message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Rotimi Adebayo in Lagos.
He said the victory of Gen Muhammadu Buhari at the March 28 polls was an answer to Nigerians long-time prayers.
“Nigerians, rejoice! It is the dawn of a new day in our country.
“Considering the much-anticipated turnaround that our nation is about to witness with the unanimous election of the new agent of positive change in our country.
“With the long-awaited change in the leadership of our country, which the Almighty God finally granted us on March 28 with Gen. Muhammadu Buhari as President-elect and Prof. Yemi Osinbajo as Vice President-elect.
“It is now certain that the long-time prayers of Nigerians has at last been answered,’’ the speaker said.
The lawmaker called on all residents of Lagos State to troop out en-masse for the forthcoming Governorship and State Assemblies polls slated for April 11.
He urged them to take up the task of handing over the governance of Lagos State to the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the sake of continuity.
Ikuforiji assured the electorates that the party flagbearer, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode and all other candidates of the party would embark on sustainable socio-economic transformation in the state.
He said their plans for the state would be in line with the plan of the newly elected APC government at the federal level.
“While rejoicing with you on the occasion of this year’s Easter celebrations, I urge you all to continue to support the APC government of Lagos State, especially now that God has answered our prayer to produce the incoming president.
“All we need to do is, come April 11, let’s complete the task of making sure that we also elect all APC candidates at all levels of our state.
“This is in order to maximally benefit from all the good things that lie in store for all the residents,” the speaker said.
Ikuforiji called on Nigerians to embrace the lessons of the resurrection season in their day to day interaction with fellow citizens.
“We must also remember to embrace forgiveness towards our perceived enemies, while equally showing love to our neighbours at all times.
“We must continue to live in peace and harmony with one another,’’ Ikuforiji added.
