BENIN CITY- The Igbo Community in Edo State have promised to vote All progressives Congress (APC) candidates in Saturday’s House of Assembly and House of Senate elections holding in Edo South Senatorial District.
The Igbo Community under the aegis of Igbo APC /Igbo-Ezue International made their feeling know when Hon. Chris Okaeben, the APC candidate for Oredo West Constituency in Saturday House of Assembly election visited them in Benin City.
The visit was part of APC’s last minute campaign across wards in the constituency.
Chairman of Igbo-Ezue and Igbo APC, Hon Onyeka Okoye who spoke on behalf of the Igbo Community appreciated Hon. Okaeben for the honour done them with the visit, promising to give APC candidates total support before, during and after Saturday’s election.
Hon. Okoye remarked that the APC government in Edo State has done well for non-indigenes, especially the Igbos in the governance of the state to earn their vote.
The Snr Special Assistant on Protocol to Edo State Governor, Ambassador Okoro Uche, while lending his voice to the call to vote APC candidates in Saturday’s elections, said non- indigenes in the state have never had it so good.
He said the detribalised posture of Governor Adams Oshiomhole is made manifest in the appointment of people of various ethnic groups, including the Igbos into political positions.
According to Ambassador Uche, a vote for Chris Okaeben and other APC candidates is a vote for Oshiomhole, the President-elect General Muhammadu Buhari and good governance.
Addressing the Igbo Community, Hon. Okaeben promised to give non indigenes, especially the Igbos, a greater sense of belonging through effective representation.
Okaeben said APC government in the state has demonstrated this through appointment of non-indigenes into key positions in the government of Edo State.
He assured that the Igbos would be receive special attention in his political agenda when they vote him in the Saturday’s election.
