BENIN CITY – Encomiums rained in freely weekend at a ceremony organised in Benin City to mark the 60th birthday anniversary of the retired Permanent Secretary Edo State Ministry of Basic Education, Hajia Nanafatimah Audu.
The ceremony which coincided with her retirement from the state civil service attracted dignitaries from different strata of the society including the State Head of Service, Mr. Jerry Obazele, Mr. Inneh, Chairman of Afemai Forum, Chief J.S Arogudade, Engr. Sule Audu, past and present permanent secretaries, families as well as well wishers.
In his opening remarks, the chairman of the occasion, Mr. Inneh expressed gratitude to God Almighty for his mercy/grace upon the celebrant throughout her life so far.
Her described the celebrant as a woman of unmartched features who would be remembered for her principles of honesty, truth and integrity while in active service.
Speaking with newsmen Prof. Eddy Eragbe of the University of Benin described Hajia Audu as a great woman who, in spite of all odds has been able to attain the peak of her career.
Hajia Anafatimah Audu who noted that some of her peers who started the career with her could not make it to the enviable position due to ill health and other related challenges, expressed gratitude to God for sparing her life, despite some challenges.
“God has been very wonderful to me and my family that I have no regret in life,” Hajia Audu.
She maintained that no one goes through life without experiencing some challenges, expressing gratitude to God for giving her the strength to be able to surmount those challenges to attain where she is presently.
According to her, people should learn to be sincere in life. Never look down on others. Let us see truthfulness, integrity as guiding principles of our lives.
