David Luiz and Thiago Motta risk missing Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League quarterfinal with Barcelona after suffering injuries in Sunday’s 3-2 win over Marseille.
Luiz, 27, was forced off clutching his left thigh just after the half-hour mark of his club’s win at the Stade Velodrome while Motta suffered a similar problem late in the game.
The duo will undergo further medical examination on Monday to determine how long they will be sidelined, with the first leg of their last-eight tie with Barca coming up on April 15.
“They’re muscle problems, which is not very reassuring,” PSG coach Laurent Blanc said.
“Those injuries can be explained by many things. I think the scheduling of this game was not the best of ideas. It would have been better before the international break.
“We got our full squad back on Friday. It was the same for the Marseille coach. So people should not be surprised to have injuries. You have to think about players and those involved before thinking of anything else.”
