MINNA- The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Niger has called on its supporters to be cautious of celebrating the victory of the party at the polls.
Niger APC spokesman Jonathan Vatsa made this known in an interview with newsmen in Minna.
The party and its supporters started jubilating after President Goodluck Jonathan congratulated Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari of the APC.
Vatsa enjoined its members and supporters to shun violent jubilation, adding that a lot still remains to be done after the official declaration by INEC.
“Now that we are leading according to the results declared so far I appeal to our members and supporters to be careful not to bring shame to the party and the country,’’ he said.
Vatsa said that the party still had the gubernatorial and other elections in the state come April 11.
According to him, the APC as a party has a lot to do in uniting and developing the country.
“So, the victory for APC is not a time for jubilation but a time to reflect on how to better the country,’’ he said.
