PANKSHIN (PLATEAU) – Rep. Emmanuel Goar (PDP-Plateau) said that the success of INEC’s Card Readers indicated that Nigeria was moving towards the use of electronic voting system in future elections
Goar made the observation in an interview with newsmen in Tazuk, Wokkos ward of Pankshin Local Government Area of Plateau.
He said the success of the successful use of the gadget in Governorship and Houses of Assembly Election, coupled with the March 28 presidential polls, was a pointer to that dream.
“We have seen from the success recorded in today’s election across Plateau that Nigeria is on course to the use of electronic voting system in our electoral system as a nation.
“Some nations that are not as big as Nigeria have been using this card machines and they have been recording success and I think we are there too and doing well with what we witness today, “ he said.
Goar said that from all indication, INEC and Nigerians as a whole came to terms with the use of the  machines and “I think, we will soon move to a better system “.
He called on all Nigerians, especially Plateau citizens, to accept the results of the polls in good faith.
“It is God that gives power to whoever He wishes and therefore people, particularly politicians and their supporters, should learn how to accept defeat,“ he said.
According to him, President Goodluck Jonathan has gone into anal of history as a statesman by his show of humility in accepting defeat by President-elect Muhammadu Buhari.
He said if all politicians and political office seekers should take a cue from Jonathan, Nigeria would be better for it to stimulate growth and development.
