General Charles Arhiavbere has described Governor Adams Oshiomhole as a leader of Edo politics following the unprecedented victory of the All Progressive Congress (APC) at the House of Assembly Elections held on Saturday.
General Arhiavbere disclosed this at Government House shortly after the victory road show by the State Governor round major streets in Benin City yesterday.
Speaking with Newsmen, General Arhiavbere said, “The Lord is working in our favor to turn the table that APC is having the highest number in the just concluded House of Assembly Election in Edo State and with this victory, it has shown that Adams Oshiomhole is the current leader of Edo politics and we are all here to support him and to ensure that the people at the grassroots gets the benefits of democracy.
“Democracy has matured in Edo State. The people have spoken that Adams Oshiomhole is a leader and if you see the trend of results coming out and from what we are hearing from other states that contested Governorship seat, you will know that APC has come to stay.
“The Comrade Governor will be energized from what he has seen and we can still see the APC ruling this state in 2016.
Also, the APC State Chairman, Barrister Anselm Ojezua reiterated the commitment of his Party towards discipline and observance of the Party rules and regulations as more and more people defects from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressive Party.
He said, “The Saturday victory was a very good way to end the General Election and we are grateful to God for giving our people the wisdom to do what they did. All we ask God was a majority but what he gave to us what a fantastic result.
“APC has always being the Party to beat in Edo State for some time now and like I always said, every political party must be in the permanent state of mobilization so it is always a good thing when people come in so long as they are willing to subject themselves to the leadership and also to the rules and regulations of the party, I have no problem with it.
Also speaking, Chief Francis Inegbeniki, an APC Chieftain and the Edo Central Senatorial Candidate in the March 28th National Assembly said, “What this portends is that change has come finally. The change Edo people have been yearning for has come at last. The House of Assembly Election was the last straw that broke the PDP backbone.
“Today, on behalf of the Esan people, I thank Edo people for coming out enmass. The revolution we have being waiting for have come as we now have 21 members in the House of Assembly which is a comfortable lead against the PDP 3 members and this means that PDP will remain in opposition for the next 30 years.
Meanwhile the Chairman, Ikpoba Okha Local Government, Hon. Mrs. Itohan Ogbeide has expressed thanks to the people of the state for voting APC in the just concluded General Elections and the Press in particular for publicizing the truth about the activities of APC in the state.
According to her, “We are celebrating and rejoicing today and we give thanks to God Almighty who made this dream come through.
